Resumen

On 04 September 2002, the Library launched its latest addition to the series. Sultan Baybars' Qur'an, one of the most magnificent surviving manuscripts of the Qur'an, was produced in 14th-century Cairo in seven volumes. It is considered a masterpiece of Islamic calligraphy and illumination. It is renowned for its calligraphic script, which is written entirely in gold, and for the sumptuously decorative frontispieces to each of its volumes. This Qur#an was commissioned by Rukn al-Din Baybars al-Jashnagir, who later became the Mamluk ruler, Sultan Baybars II. This project was made possible through the generosity of the Noon Foundation.
