The programme Spain-Sweden Historical Encounters was started some years back, following the Swedish Ambassador, Mr. Thomas Bertelman’s initiative, and under the Berndt Wistedt Foundation’s guidelines. The series of activities it has fostered will expand beyond the year 2000, according to he work scheme of professors Martínez Ruiz and Pi Corrales.
The present tome accounts for the studies made public during one of the standing events of the aforementioned programme. Its historiographic contribution not only renders this volume particularly meaningful in terms of the specific subject it deals with, but also in terms of the whole ensemble of Spanish-Swedish cultural encounters.
